You agree to the terms of service below, and the Terms of Use for Substack, the technology provider.
TERMS OF USE
Effective Date: 01.03.2026 Last Updated: 01.03.2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Outset Media Index (the “Service”), operated by LA KADJ LLC d/b/a Outset PR (“Outset PR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Binding on Company Representatives
If you access or use the Service on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you are an authorized representative of such entity and have the authority to bind it to these Terms.
In such cases, “you” and “your” refer to both the individual accessing the Service and the company or legal entity on whose behalf the Service is used, and the entity is jointly and severally responsible for compliance with these Terms.
We may modify, update, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically for any updates or changes. Outset PR does not have an obligation to individually notify users of every change to the Terms. Continued access to or use of the Service after any changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
1. The Service
1.1. Outset Media Index is a subscription-based analytics and aggregation platform that analyzes and compares news outlets using a consistent methodology, enabling side-by-side comparison and historical tracking.
1.2. The Service is provided for informational and analytical purposes only.
2. Accounts and Registration
2.1. To access the Service (including any free trial or paid features), you must create an account. Upon completion of the sign-up and registration process, a newly created account is automatically assigned to the Free Plan.
No payment information is required to access the Free Plan, and access to the Service under the Free Plan is subject to the limitations, restrictions, and functionality applicable to that plan.
Access to paid subscription plans requires an explicit upgrade by the user and, where applicable, completion of the payment process.
Outset PR reserves the right to restrict, modify, or discontinue automatic access to the Free Plan at any time in accordance with these Terms.
You agree to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep such information up to date at all times.
2.2. Business Email Requirement
Accounts must be registered using a valid business or organizational email address associated with the company or entity on whose behalf the Service is used. Use of disposable, personal, or anonymized email addresses (including but not limited to free consumer email services) may result in denial, suspension, or termination of access at our discretion.
We reserve the right to request verification of your business affiliation at any time.
2.3. Authorized Representative
By creating an account or using the Service, you represent and warrant that: • you are an authorized representative of the company or legal entity on whose behalf the Service is accessed; • you have the full authority to bind such entity to these Terms; and • all use of the Service is for legitimate business purposes of that entity.
2.4. Responsibility of the Entity
Where the Service is used on behalf of a company or other legal entity: • the entity is deemed the account holder; • the entity is fully responsible for all activity conducted through the account, including by its employees, contractors, or agents; • all obligations, payments, liabilities, and compliance requirements under these Terms apply jointly and severally to the individual user and the entity.
2.5. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your login credentials and for all actions taken under your account.
You must promptly notify us of any unauthorized access, suspected breach, or misuse. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of access.
2.6. One Account per Organization (Unless Authorized)
Unless expressly permitted under chosen subscription plan, each organization may maintain only the number of accounts allowed under its subscription plan. Creating multiple accounts to bypass usage limits, trials, or fees is strictly prohibited.
2.7. Enforcement
We reserve the right to: • suspend or terminate accounts with inaccurate, misleading, or unverifiable registration information; • restrict access pending verification of business affiliation or authority; • recover damages or unpaid fees resulting from misuse or misrepresentation.
2.8. Customer Support and Communications
Outset PR provides customer support and user communications primarily through a third-party customer messaging and support platform operated by Intercom (https://www.intercom.com) (the “Support Tool”).
By using the Service and engaging with customer support, you acknowledge and agree that communications submitted through in-product chat, support forms, or related messaging channels may be processed through the Support Tool in accordance with its applicable terms and privacy practices.
The Support Tool may be used to handle general inquiries, technical support requests, account-related communications, and questions relating to personal data and privacy.
Users are encouraged to submit support requests and privacy-related inquiries through the in-Service chat or other support channels made available via the Support Tool.
Processing of personal data through the Support Tool is further described in the Privacy Policy.
3. Subscriptions, Fees, and Billing
3.1. Free Trials and Free Plan
Outset PR may offer free access to the Service, including free trials and a free subscription tier (“Free Plan”), at its discretion. Free access is provided with limited functionality and subject to usage restrictions.

The Service is offered under multiple subscription plans, which differ in pricing, permitted users, access to data, metrics, parameters, and available features. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the following plans are generally available:

The specific number of parameters, features, usage limits, and availability for each plan are described on the Service website (omindex.io) or within the Service interface and may be updated from time to time.
Outset PR reserves the right to modify, add, or remove subscription plans, features, parameters, and limits, provided that any such changes will not materially reduce the core functionality of an active paid subscription during its current billing period.
3.3. Billing and Auto-Renewal
3.3.1. Paid subscriptions are granted for a fixed subscription term (such as a quarterly or annual term), as selected at the time of purchase. 3.3.2. Subscriptions do not renew automatically. Upon expiration of a subscription term, continued access to paid features requires an explicit renewal request and confirmation by the user through the Service interface, the user’s account, or via a renewal confirmation sent by email. 3.3.2.1. When a user initiates an upgrade request, the user will be required to confirm their intention to upgrade. Upon confirmation, Outset PR will receive the upgrade request together with relevant account information, including the user’s current subscription plan and the remaining duration of the active subscription term. Following receipt of an upgrade request, Outset PR will calculate the applicable upgrade fee based on a pro rata adjustment, taking into account the portion of the current subscription term already used and the pricing of the selected higher-tier plan. Outset PR will then issue an invoice or payment request through its designated payment provider. The upgraded subscription will become effective only after full payment of the applicable upgrade amount has been received. Until payment is completed, the user will continue to have access solely to the features and limitations of the existing subscription plan.
Outset PR aims to review and respond to upgrade requests within a commercially reasonable timeframe, typically within one (1) business day, but does not guarantee immediate processing. Subscription upgrades do not extend the original subscription term unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. 3.3.3. Outset PR may notify users in advance of an upcoming subscription expiration and provide instructions for requesting renewal. If a subscription is not renewed and payment is not completed prior to or upon expiration, the user’s account will revert to the Free Plan, and access to paid features will be suspended. 3.3.4. Outset PR is not responsible for any loss of access to paid features resulting from failure to renew or complete payment in a timely manner.
3.4. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access until that period ends.
3.5. Refunds
3.5.1. Except where required by applicable law or expressly agreed in writing by Outset PR, all subscription fees are non-refundable and non-creditable. No refunds or credits are provided for partial subscription terms, unused time, downgrades, or expiration of a subscription without renewal.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, where a user upgrades an active paid subscription to a higher-tier plan in accordance with Section 3.3.2, Outset PR may apply a pro rata adjustment to the upgrade price to account for the unused portion of the current subscription term.
Pro rata adjustments are calculated by determining the unused value of the existing subscription based on the remaining time in the current subscription term and applying such amount as a credit toward the price of the upgraded subscription.
3.5.2. For the purpose of pro rata calculations:
• subscription pricing may be normalized on a monthly basis, and • each month is deemed to consist of thirty (30) calendar days, regardless of the actual number of days in a calendar month.
Where an upgrade occurs during a partial month, the unused value of the subscription may be calculated on a daily basis, derived from the applicable monthly price divided by thirty (30) days.
Any pro rata adjustment is applied solely for the purpose of calculating the upgrade amount due and does not constitute a refund. No cash refunds are issued.
3.6. Taxes
Fees are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or similar governmental assessments.
3.7 Payment Provider
Payment processing and collection services are provided by our third-party payment provider, NowPayments. All financial transactions, including the charging of funds, are handled by this service provider.
Any inquiries, claims, or disputes regarding incorrect charges, refunds, or technical issues related to transaction processing must be addressed directly to NowPayments’ support team at: nowpayments.io.
Outset PR is not liable for the actions, omissions, or performance of the payment processor, nor for any losses arising from the payment handling process.
3.8. Service Communications and Messaging
3.8.1. By creating an account or subscribing to the Service, you acknowledge and agree that Outset PR may send you communications related to the operation, administration, and use of the Service (“Service Communications”).
Service Communications may include, without limitation, account confirmations, onboarding messages, subscription-related notifications, upgrade or renewal information, support messages, and other operational or transactional communications necessary to provide the Service. Such communications are not considered marketing messages.
3.8.2. Marketing and Promotional Communications. Outset PR may also send promotional or marketing communications relating to subscription plans, features, upgrades, or offers. Where required by applicable law, such communications will be sent only where you have provided the necessary consent or where otherwise permitted, and you may opt out of marketing communications at any time through the available unsubscribe mechanisms or account settings.
3.8.3. Insights, Research Updates, and Subscription Content. As part of the Service, Outset PR may provide informational content, insights, research updates, and analytical summaries derived from the Service, including notifications about changes in rankings, notable trends, or platform-generated insights.
Such communications are considered an integral part of the Service and do not constitute marketing communications, as they relate directly to the analytical and informational functionality of the Service.
3.8.4. Quarterly Reports for Paid Subscribers. Users with an active paid subscription acknowledge and agree that Outset PR may provide periodic reports, including quarterly analytical or summary reports, as part of the subscription. The format, scope, and content of such reports are determined by Outset PR and may vary by subscription plan.
3.8.5. Delivery and Frequency. Communications may be delivered via email, in-product notifications, chat-based messaging tools, or other channels associated with the Service. Outset PR does not guarantee the frequency, timing, or delivery of any specific communication unless expressly stated otherwise.
4. Acceptable Use
4.1. You agree not to: • Use the Service in violation of any law or regulation • Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service without written permission • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to discover source code or proprietary methods • Circumvent access controls, usage limits, or subscription restrictions • Use the Service to build or train a competing product or dataset • Misrepresent Outset PR’s analytics, scores, or rankings as endorsements or certifications • Interfere with the integrity, security, or performance of the Service • We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
5. Third-Party Content
5.1. The Service may incorporate, analyze, transform, or display information, metrics, estimates, or other data obtained from or derived from third-party sources, providers, platforms, or publicly available materials (“Third-Party Data”).
Outset PR does not own or control Third-Party Data and makes no representations or warranties regarding its accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, or reliability. Third-Party Data may be subject to change, correction, removal, or limitation without notice.
The inclusion or use of Third-Party Data within the Service does not constitute endorsement, affiliation, sponsorship, or certification by any third party, nor does it imply any partnership or commercial relationship unless expressly stated in writing by Outset PR.
Outset PR acts solely as an analytics and aggregation platform and may process Third-Party Data in accordance with its proprietary methodology. Attribution to specific third-party data providers is not provided unless explicitly required and agreed separately in writing.
Your use of the Service and any reliance on Third-Party Data is at your own risk. You are responsible for evaluating and verifying Third-Party Data independently where appropriate.
6. Analytics, Scores, and Methodology
6.1. The Service provides analytical outputs, ratings, scores, rankings, comparisons, and related insights (collectively, “Outputs”) derived from a combination of third-party data sources, proprietary tools, and internal research.
Data used within the Service may include, without limitation, traffic, engagement, syndication indicators, technical signals, and other measurable performance metrics obtained from external data providers, as well as information generated through Outset PR’s proprietary media analysis tools and internal research conducted by experienced media professionals.
All data is reviewed, processed, and normalized using a consistent methodology so that media outlets are evaluated on a comparable basis, regardless of the original data source or format. Normalization and weighting methods may be adjusted from time to time to reflect changes in data availability, market conditions, or analytical improvements.
6.2. The Service currently produces multiple analytical ratings, including but not limited to:
• a General Rating, which evaluates how a publication performs relative to the broader crypto media landscape; and • a Convenience Rating, which evaluates practical, collaboration- and workflow-related characteristics relevant to media planning and distribution.
Each publication is assigned a composite score under each applicable rating (including a General Score and, where available, a Convenience Score). Scores are calculated by combining normalized and weighted metrics into a single composite value to enable structured comparison.
Rankings are determined by ordering publications based on their respective scores from highest to lowest. Rankings and scores are independent, objective, and non-negotiable. Positions are not sold, influenced, adjusted by request, or manually modified.
Scores and rankings are updated periodically, typically on a monthly basis, and reflect a publication’s relative position at the time of calculation. Historical data may be retained for trend analysis but does not imply ongoing accuracy.
Outputs are provided for informational and analytical purposes only and do not constitute endorsements, guarantees, or representations of future performance.
6.3. Historical Data and Data Accumulation
Certain features of the Service include access to historical or time-based data reflecting media performance, metrics, scores, or rankings over specific periods (“Historical Data”).
Unless expressly stated otherwise, access to Historical Data is prospective, not retrospective. Upon activation of a subscription, a user is granted access to data generated during the current reporting period (such as the current month).
As the subscription remains active over time, Historical Data for subsequent reporting periods may accumulate and become available within designated sections of the Service intended for historical analysis.
Historical Data for periods prior to the start of a user’s subscription is not included by default and may be unavailable, limited, or offered separately at Outset PR’s discretion.
Availability, retention, and scope of Historical Data may vary by subscription plan, feature set, or technical limitations, and may be modified in accordance with these Terms.
6.4. Data Update Frequency
The Service provides analytical data, metrics, scores, and rankings that are updated on a periodic basis, depending on the nature of the data, the applicable methodology, and the availability of underlying data sources.
Certain data sets, scores, and analytical outputs are updated on a monthly basis. Unless expressly stated otherwise, monthly data updates are typically processed and published within a designated update window, which generally occurs between the 8th and 12th day of the applicable month.
Users acknowledge and agree that data displayed during an update window may reflect values from the previous reporting period until the update process is completed. Temporary inconsistencies, delays, or partial updates may occur during this time.
Not all data within the Service is updated at the same frequency. Some metrics may be refreshed more or less frequently depending on technical, methodological, or third-party source constraints.
Outset PR does not guarantee real-time or continuous updates of any data, metric, or score unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Changes to update schedules, refresh cycles, or update windows may be made from time to time in accordance with these Terms.
7. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in the Service — including software, databases, methodology, scoring systems, and Outputs — are owned by Outset PR or its licensors.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for internal business or personal purposes, subject to these Terms.
You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly display Outputs except as expressly permitted in writing.
8. Disclaimers
The Service, including all analytics, scores, rankings, comparisons, data visualizations, reports, and other outputs (“Outputs”), is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Outset PR expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and availability.
No Reliance. You acknowledge and agree that the Service is provided for informational and analytical purposes only. You must not rely on the Service or any Outputs as the sole basis for making business, financial, investment, marketing, legal, or operational decisions. Any reliance on the Service is at your own risk.
No Advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes, or should be construed as, investment advice, financial advice, trading advice, legal advice, tax advice, media buying advice, or professional advice of any kind. Outset PR does not act as a broker, advisor, agent, or fiduciary.
Crypto-Specific Risk. You acknowledge that the crypto and digital asset industry is inherently volatile, rapidly evolving, and subject to regulatory uncertainty. Data related to crypto media, markets, or ecosystems may become outdated or inaccurate quickly. Outset PR makes no representations regarding future performance, outcomes, or market behavior.
Third-Party Data Disclaimer. The Service relies in part on data obtained from third-party sources. Outset PR does not control such sources and does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or continued availability of third-party data. Errors, omissions, delays, or inconsistencies may occur and Outset PR shall not be responsible for them.
Methodology Changes. Scores, rankings, and other Outputs may change as a result of updates to data sources, normalization techniques, weighting, scoring logic, or analytical methodology. Such changes do not imply prior errors and do not create any obligation to revise historical Outputs.
No Endorsement or Certification. Inclusion of any media outlet, publication, or entity in the Service does not constitute an endorsement, certification, recommendation, or approval by Outset PR, nor does exclusion imply any negative judgment.
No Guarantee of Results. Outset PR does not guarantee that use of the Service will lead to any particular outcome, performance improvement, media coverage, business result, or competitive advantage.
User Responsibility. You are solely responsible for verifying any information obtained through the Service with original sources or other independent means before acting upon it.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUTSET PR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.
OUTSET PR’S TOTAL LIABILITY IN ANY 12-MONTH PERIOD SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE SERVICE DURING THAT PERIOD, OR USD $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Outset PR, its affiliates, licensors, data providers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, penalties, fines, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your access to or use of the Service, your reliance on any analytics, scores, rankings, comparisons, reports, or other outputs provided through the Service, any decisions, actions, or omissions taken by you or any third party based in whole or in part on the Service, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, your misuse or misrepresentation of Outputs (including presenting them as endorsements, certifications, guarantees, or audited results), your breach of any third-party rights, any content or data submitted by you, or any use of the Service by your employees, contractors, agents, or other authorized users.
Outset PR reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate fully with such defense. Your indemnification obligations apply regardless of the theory of liability and survive termination or expiration of these Terms.
11. Suspension and Termination
Outset PR may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, immediately and without liability, if Outset PR reasonably determines that: (a) you have violated these Terms; (b) you have failed to pay applicable fees when due; (c) your use of the Service poses a security risk, legal risk, or operational risk to Outset PR or third parties; (d) you have misused, misrepresented, or attempted to reverse engineer the Service or its Outputs; or (e) such action is required to comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, or governmental request.
Outset PR may also suspend or terminate free or trial access at any time at its discretion.
You may terminate your subscription at any time in accordance with the applicable cancellation terms. Termination or cancellation does not entitle you to any refund of prepaid fees, except where required by law.
Upon termination or expiration of your access, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. Outset PR may delete or disable access to your account data after a commercially reasonable period, unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Any provisions which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including without limitation provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
Outset PR processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use, storage, and processing of personal data as described therein.
You represent and warrant that you have obtained all necessary rights, consents, and authorizations to provide personal data of your employees, contractors, or other authorized users to Outset PR for the purpose of providing the Service.
Outset PR may use aggregated and anonymized data derived from use of the Service for analytics, benchmarking, product improvement, research, and reporting purposes, provided such data does not identify you or any individual user.
Nothing in these Terms limits Outset PR’s right to comply with applicable data protection laws, lawful requests from authorities, or its obligations to protect the security and integrity of the Service.

You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction, and you irrevocably submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
